Tim Burton says goodbye to Disney unlikely to return

Tim Burton received the Prix Lumière award at Lumiere Festival in France. In a press conference on Saturday, he likened working for the company to Dumbo being trapped in "this horrible big circus".

As Disney mainly focused on its tentpole franchises within the Star Wars and Marvel cinematic universes “I can only deal with one universe, l can’t deal with a multi-universe,” he said.

“It’s gotten to be very homogenized, very consolidated. There’s less room for different types of things,” Burton said, according to Deadline.

2019's live-action "Dumbo" remake is the last Collaboration of Tim burton and Disney

“I was hired and fired like several times throughout my career there,” he added. “The thing about ‘Dumbo,’ is that’s why I think my days with Disney are done "

"I realized that I was Dumbo, that I was working in this horrible big circus and I needed to escape. That movie is quite autobiographical at a certain level.”

Tim Burton’s next “Wednesday”, a Netflix spinoff series of The Addams Family, is scheduled to premiere on November 23.
